School of Information Security Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

School of information Security Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University was founded in October, 2000, by the State Ministry of Education, the State Ministry of Science and Technology and the Shanghai Municipal government. It is the first school-formed in China dedicated to national information security professional training and education of senior information security professionals of different levels including undergraduate, master and doctor. It is also one of the first institutions participating in a master-doctorate pilot program, focusing on three research directions:” Communications and Information System”, “Computer Applied Technology” and “Cryptography”. School of Information Security Engineering determines the ideology of opening and jointly running. Its educational goal is to train senior information security professionals, influential in both international academic circles and domestic industrial circles, and to form internationally renowned applied basic research heights in the front of information security. Schools has already formed a unique pattern of disciplines and training, and established strong cooperative relationships with many world-class universities and international corporations. As one of the senior information security professional training base of the State 863 Achievement Industrialization(East) Bases, which offers strong guarantee to the speeding up the upgrading of national competiveness of core technology in information security, promoting China’s industrialization of information security and the training urgently needed information security professionals.

School now has nearly 30 professors and associate professors also hired more than 30 domestic well-known experts in the field of information security as part-time professor, including two academicians in the Academy of Engineering, forming a research team of over 70 teachers and 200 doctors and masters. School of Information Security Engineering has taken on more than 70 teachers and 200 doctors and masters. School of Information Security Engineering has taken on more than 70 key national research projects, such as National Information Security Application Demonstration Project(S219), National Key Technologies R&D Program, Major Program of National 863, National Natural Science Foundation projects, National Defense Basic Pre-Study Tasks, etc. School has achieved a lot of important scientific research fruits, including a second prize for National Science and Technology Progress Award, three first prizes and five second prizes for the provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, more than 40 authorized invention patens. School has also taken part in the establishment of a series of important national information security standards and regulations.

Zhangjiang campus covers an area of more than 40 acres, located in Shanghai Pudong Zhangjiang High-Tech Park of the national Information Security Base(East). This four-storey main classroom building has an area of 10,000 square meters.
