Requirements for PHD students to publish academic papers

In order to improve the quality of postgraduate education and degree awarding, strengthen the cultivation of scientific research ability and academic level of postgraduates, and encourage them to make innovative achievements, according to the spirit of relevant documents of the University and combined with the actual situation of various disciplines in our college, the following regulations and explanations are made for the academic papers published by doctoral students of our college during the semester.

Electrical engineering requirements:

Requirements for each grade PHD students:

1、 Before applying for dissertation defense, postgraduates studying for doctoral degree shall publish (or employ) more than two academic papers related to the main contents of their dissertations in SCI (scientific Citation Index) or EI (Engineering Index) retrieval source journals, and at least one foreign language paper shall be published (or employed) in foreign periodicals retrieved by SCI (excluding English of university journals) Version and lecture notes, excluding WSEAS). 2. The scientific research achievements obtained by doctoral students during the semester can be equivalent to the publication of academic papers. Those who have won the national science and technology achievement award can be exempted from the requirement of publishing papers; those who have won the first prize (top 5 signatures), the second prize (top 3 signatures), the third prize (the top 2 signatures), or the authorization of invention patents, which are equivalent to publishing the same number of SCI or EI papers; those who have won other provincial and ministerial level awards for scientific and technological achievements or invention patents, which are equivalent to publishing the same number of papers Academic papers.

3. The academic papers published by doctoral students must be published (or employed) by Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit during their doctoral studies. One thesis published by the first author shall be counted as one; one half of the papers published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter shall not be included. The papers published by doctoral students during their master's degree are not included in the number of papers published in their doctoral study stage.

4. The subject of electrical engineering welcomes and supports supervisors to set higher standards for their students according to the actual situation.

Control science and Engineering department requirements:

1、 Requirements for academic PHD students enrolled before 2019:

(1) Before applying for dissertation defense, at least two academic papers related to the main contents of dissertation shall be published (or employed) in the academic journals retrieved by SCI or EI (Engineering Index), and at least one of them shall be published (or employed) in the journals retrieved by English SCI or EI (excluding the English version of university journals and letter notes).

(2) In order to strengthen the cultivation of doctoral students' academic communication and English report ability, doctoral students should attend at least one international academic conference during the semester, read out their papers in English or post them for discussion, or attend national academic conferences with English groups and read out their papers in English orally.

(3) The scientific research achievements achieved during the semester can be equivalent to the publication of academic papers. If you win the national science and technology achievement award, you can be exempted from the requirement of publishing papers; if you get the top five signatures of the first prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology achievement award, or the top three signatures of the second prize, or the top two signatures of the third prize, or obtain the authorization of invention patent, it is equivalent to publishing SCI or EI papers; if you obtain the provincial science and technology achievement award, or obtain the invention patent disclosure, it is equivalent to publishing the same number of academic papers.

(4) The academic papers published by doctoral students must be published (or employed) by Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit in the journals recognized by the degree evaluation sub committee. One thesis published by the first author shall be counted as one; one half of the papers published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter shall not be included. Academic papers must be in the doctoral period, and the papers published by doctoral students during their master's degree are not included in the number of papers published in their doctoral study stage.

(5) The above provisions are the bottom line requirements for doctoral research work. The supervisor puts forward specific requirements for doctoral dissertation defense according to the different research contents of doctoral students.

2、 Requirements for doctoral students enrolled in and after 2019

 (1) Before applying for dissertation defense, at least two academic papers related to the main contents of the dissertation shall be published (or employed), which shall meet one of the following conditions:

(a) An important journal paper (see the annex for the list of important journals of recommended disciplines).

(b) Two academic journal papers retrieved by SCI.

(c) One is an academic journal paper retrieved by SCI, and the other is an important research result recognized by his supervisor.

(2) The academic papers published by doctoral students must be published (or employed) by Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit. The thesis published by the first author shall be counted as one; the thesis published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter shall not be counted. Academic papers must be in the doctoral period, and the papers published by doctoral students during their master's degree are not included in the number of papers published in their doctoral study stage.

(3) The requirements for postgraduates and postgraduates are the same as those for doctoral students.

(4) The above provisions are the basic requirements for doctoral degree application. The supervisor puts forward specific requirements for doctoral dissertation defense according to the different research contents of doctoral students.

Computer science department requirements:

【1】   Doctoral students enrolled before 2009:  2 papers, 1 SCI or 2 EI journals (EI papers must be in English)

【2】 Doctoral students from 2009 to 2017: they should meet the following two requirements at the same time:

1. Meet the graduation requirements of Jiaotong University: > = 2 papers, 1 SCI or 1 EI Academic Journal (EI papers must be in English)

2. Meet one of the following conditions:

a) A or B Journal of Jiaotong University

b) 1 CCF class A or B Journal

c) One CCF class a meeting

d) Two CCF C journals

e) Two CCF class B meetings

F) CCF class C journals and 1 class B meeting

Note 1: please refer to the relevant documents for the catalogue of SCI papers a / b of Shanghai Jiaotong University and international academic journals and conferences recommended by China computer society.

Note 2: the thesis published by the first author is counted as one; the thesis published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) is counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter are not included.

【3】 For the doctoral students enroll in and after 2018: students need to publish academic papers and meet the following two requirements at the same time:

1. Meet the following graduation requirements stipulated by Shanghai Jiaotong University: > = 2 papers, at least 1 SCI or 1 EI Academic Journal (EI papers must be in English)

2. Meet one of the following conditions:

a) Published more than 2 papers of file B (including)

b) He published 1 paper in a file and 1 paper in designated Chinese Journal or ccf-c journal

c) He published 1 paper in B file and 2 papers in designated Chinese journals or ccf-c journals

Note 1: the power of interpretation in this paper belongs to the academic degree committee of "computer science and technology" and "software engineering". In case of special circumstances, the proposal shall be jointly proposed by three members. If the committee finds that it is indeed a special case, it shall be discussed.

Note 2 quality identification: the grade of published papers in this paper is based on the classification catalogue of SCI papers of Shanghai Jiaotong University (A / b) and international academic journals and conferences recommended by China computer society. See relevant documents for details. The Chinese designated journals are "China Science, science bulletin, computer science journal and software journal". If the list is updated, it will be processed according to the list of applicants after enrollment.

Note 3 quantity identification: one thesis published by the first author is counted as one thesis; the thesis published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) is counted as 1 / 2; other situations are not included. In the second requirement, the degree applicant must have at least one first author thesis.

Electronic Science and Technology & information and Communication Engineering requirements:

【1】 For all types of doctoral students enrolled before 2019:

（1） Before applying for dissertation defense, postgraduates studying for doctoral degree shall publish (or employ) more than two (including) academic papers related to the main contents of their dissertations in SCI (scientific Citation Index) or EI (Engineering Index) retrieval or academic journals recognized by academic degree evaluation sub-committee of colleges and departments, and at least one of them shall be published (or employed) in SCI or EI Indexed journals and EI Indexed journals The academic papers published (or accepted) in the university need to be written in English (or their first foreign language).

(2) The scientific research achievements obtained by doctoral students during the semester can be equivalent to the publication of academic papers. If you win the national science and technology achievement award, you can be exempted from the requirement of publishing papers; if you get the top five signatures of the first prize of provincial science and technology achievement award, or the top three signatures of the second prize, or the top two signatures of the third prize, or obtain the authorization of invention patent, it is equivalent to publishing SCI or EI papers; if you win the provincial and ministerial level science and technology achievement award, or obtain the invention patent disclosure, it is equivalent to publishing the same number of academic papers.

(3) Academic papers published by doctoral students must be published in the name of Shanghai Jiaotong University and signed by the postgraduates themselves as the first author. The papers published in the name of Shanghai Jiaotong University and the first author are counted as one; the second author is counted as one half (the first author must be his supervisor); the third author and the latter are not included. The papers published by doctoral students during their master's degree are not included in the number of papers published in their doctoral study stage.

(4) The requirements for publishing academic papers during the doctoral program are the responsibility of the supervisor. The department welcomes and supports the supervisors to formulate higher requirements according to the actual situation.

【2】 For academic doctoral students enrolled in and after 2019:

Quantity requirements: before applying for dissertation defense, at least 2 academic papers related to the main contents of dissertation shall be published (or employed).

If student get the provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievements for the first prize (top 5), second prize (top 3), third prize (top 2), or invention patent authorization are equivalent to publishing the same number of SCI or EI papers;

If student has won other provincial and ministerial awards for scientific and technological achievements or invention patents, can be recognized equivalent to publish the same number of academic papers.

Quality requirements: at least one academic paper should be published (or employed) in the SCI (Science Citation Index) or EI (Engineering Index) journals. Papers published in EI retrieval journals should be in English (or its first foreign language).

Accreditation method: the academic papers must be published (or employed) in the journals recognized by the academic degree evaluation sub-committee with Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit during the doctoral period. If the degree applicant is the first author, 1 / 2 of the papers published by the second author (including the co-first author but ranking the second) is counted as 1 / 2 if the first author is his / her supervisor; otherwise, the third author and the latter are not included.

Supervisor can ask for more requirements to the PHD students.

Instrument Science and technology department requirements:

【1】 For all types of doctoral students enrolled before 2019:

(1) At least two SCI or EI papers related to the main contents of the dissertation shall be published, and at least one of them shall be in English (excluding English papers in university journals).

(2) The publication requirement of papers can be reduced if scientific research results are obtained during the semester. In addition to the conditions stipulated by the graduate school, the publication of invention patents or the achievement of university level and above science and technology competition awards are equivalent to the core journal papers.

(3) The dissertations published by doctoral students must be published (or employed) by Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit in the journals recognized by the degree evaluation sub-committee. One thesis published by the first author shall be counted as one; one half of the papers published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter shall not be included. Academic papers must be in the doctoral period, and the papers published by doctoral students during their master's degree are not included in the number of papers published in their doctoral study stage.

(4) The supervisors of theses submitted by doctoral students are correspondence authors.

(5) The above provisions are the basic requirements for doctoral research work. The supervisor puts forward specific requirements for doctoral dissertation defense according to the different research contents of doctoral students.

【2】 For academic doctoral students enrolled in and after 2019:

1、 Before doctoral candidates apply for dissertation defense, their academic achievements related to the contents of their dissertations shall meet one of the following requirements:

(1) Publish (or employ) more than two (including) academic papers in SCI (Science Citation Index) retrieval official journals or journals recognized by the discipline during the semester;

(2) During the semester, he won the national science and technology achievement award, or the first prize (top 5 signatures) and the second prize (top 3 signatures) of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological achievements;

2、 For other academic achievements related to dissertations obtained by doctoral students during the semester, on the premise that there is at least one SCI paper of the first author, the following identification can be made:

 (1) The provincial and ministerial level science and technology achievement award won by the first doctor degree graduate student is equivalent to publishing the same number of SCI papers;

 (2) If the first inventor or the first inventor other than the supervisor obtains the national invention patent authorization related to the contents of the dissertation, it is equivalent to publishing the same number of SCI papers;

(3) The number of SCI papers published by doctoral students as the first author is 1; the papers published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 0.5 SCI papers; the papers of other signed authors shall not be counted;

(4) The academic achievements obtained by doctoral degree postgraduates must be in the period of doctoral study, and the academic achievements obtained or recognized during the period of studying for master's degree shall not be included in the study stage of doctoral students;

The above academic achievements must be obtained during the period of doctoral study, and Shanghai Jiaotong University shall be the first completion (or signature or obligee) unit. The above regulations on academic achievements are the basic requirements for doctoral candidates to apply for degrees. Supervisors are encouraged to put forward other supplementary requirements no less than the above requirements according to the different research directions and contents of doctoral students.

Cyberspace Security department requirements:

【1】 For all types of students enrolled before 2019, the requirements of the school are as follows:

During the period of doctoral study, two academic papers related to the main contents of the dissertation should be published (or hired) in the journal recognized by the academic degree evaluation committee of the affiliated college with Shanghai Jiaotong University as the first unit. The specific requirements are as follows:

1. Engineering and agronomy: publish (or employ) 2 academic papers, at least one published (or employed) in SCI (Science Citation Index) or EI (Engineering Index) journals. Papers published in EI retrieval journals should be in English (or its first foreign language).

2. To obtain the national science and technology achievement award, the requirement of thesis publication can be exempted; the first prize (top 5 signatures), the second prize (top 3 signatures), the third prize (the top 2 signatures) of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological achievements, or the authorization of invention patents, which are equivalent to publishing the same number of SCI or EI papers; those who have won other provincial and ministerial level awards for scientific and technological achievements or invention patents and published the same number of them Academic papers.

One thesis published by the first author shall be counted as one; one half of the papers published by the second author (the first author must be his supervisor) shall be counted as 1 / 2; the third author and the latter shall not be included.

【2】 For academic doctoral students enrolled in and after 2019:

(1) Shanghai Jiaotong University stipulates the requirements for graduation and publication of academic papers.

(2) At the same time, it must meet the cumulative score of academic papers more than 4 points (including 4 points), and there must be at least one b paper published as the first author. Specific scoring rules and paper classification: if student is the first author, the score coefficient of the paper is 1; if the supervisor is the first author and I am the second author, the score coefficient of the paper is 0.5; in other cases, the score coefficient is 0.

a) Papers in ccf-a journals / conferences, journals of the first district of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and cacr-a journals / conferences will be scored 3 points (subject to the list published at the time of admission, the same below);

b) 2 points for papers in ccf-b journals / conferences, journals of the Second District of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and cacr-b journals / conferences;

c) 1 point for papers in ccf-c journals / conferences, journals of three regions of CAS, and cacr-c journals / conferences.

Note: if there are more than one first author or second author, one paper can only be used for calculation once; for papers listed in negative journals / conferences, the score coefficient is 0; for papers published in journals / conferences that are not recognized in the professional academic field, the supervisor or degree committee has the right to determine the score coefficient as 0 through necessary procedures.
